American International School of Progress students visited NASA
LIGGA, the winning team in the 2022 Millennium Innovation Challenge, went to NASA.
It is doubly exciting news for our school because Progress students Irakli Kutsnashvili and Aleksi Kukhianidze are among those who have contributed to this amazing success.
LIGGA team members will spend a week at the Johnson Space Center in Houston, Texas, working on the spacecraft's development. They will attempt to build necessary housing for astronauts, build as well as design and code a Mars robot.
Members of the team will also visit NASA's Real Astronaut Training Center and the Christopher Craft Mission Control Center in addition to the instructional program.
At the end of the program, students will get the opportunity to meet a real astronaut and discover fascinating stories about space travel from him.
The Millennium Innovation Competition has been held in Georgia since 2015 with the funding of the US Embassy.
Marekhi Mazanashvili and Uta Kilasonia, heads of the American International School Progress STEM Club, guided the team.
"Radiation research, monitoring, and safety system" - the team's project allows them to manage the quantity of radiation in rooms and buildings as well as determine the region of its spread.
